For those who do not have enough time to commit to become a SAVE Peer Educator or a CAPS: AVI Intern, the CAPS: AVI Street Team is for you! The Street Team meets on a weekly basis to learn about violence prevention and get involved in some of our programming. The Spring 2022 Street Team is looking for volunteers who will: work to engage the community, raise awareness of AVI issues, share violence prevention information.
Historically, CAPS: AVI accepted applications for students who wished to complete their CEL hours in our office. Those who are looking to complete CEL hours with CAPS: AVI are required to join the Street Team. Volunteers completing Community Engaged Learning (CEL) projects have a unique set of requirements related to their coursework and need to be mindful of timelines related to their syllabus. Please communicate any deadlines to the Street Team supervisor, so they can be intentional about assigning projects that wrap up by your project deadline. Please be aware CAPS: AVI cannot guarantee the amount of hours acquired through the Street Team. While our office tries to ensure volunteers have enough work to fill their required hours, sometimes students’ schedules do not allow them to take advantage of every opportunity offered. CEL volunteers may need to make additional arrangements to complete their hour requirement.
