October is nationally recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). During this month, AVI helps the TCNJ community to identify and de-escalate domestic/dating violence. We also provide programming around healthy relationships, gender socialization, and ways to support survivors of domestic/dating violence.
Our calendar of events, & workshop flyers (below) contain important dates, times, and information about our virtual opportunities for October 2020. To access our virtual workshops, please click the links below. If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com.
Escalation Workshops: AVI has partnered with the One Love Foundation to host two Escalation Workshops this month. Each workshop will feature a film entitled ‘Escalation’ and a facilitated discussion afterwards. Those who attend can expect to be able to identify signs of dating and domestic violence, learn how to intervene when they see dating violence happening, and how to support survivors.
Escalation Workshop # 1: October 5th @ 2pm
Escalation Workshop # 2: October 26th @ 4pm
Supporting Survivors Workshop: Learn how to receive disclosures and show support for survivors of domestic/dating, even in a virtual setting. This workshop is interactive and helps audience members learn effective ways to respond, ways to support someone in the long-term, and to be aware of resources both on and off campus.
Date and Time: October 14th @ 4pm
Green Dot Workshop: Learn how to identify domestic/dating violence and how to intervene to de-escalate or prevent the violence. This workshop is interactive, and will allow audience members to connect with one another to develop intervention strategies that work for our community. This year’s content will also include scenarios and intervention strategies you can use within a virtual setting.
Date and Time: October 21st @ 2pm
