Each year the TCNJ Alcohol and Other Drug Support Services (formerly ADEP) and the NJ Division of Highway Traffic Safety host the Peer Institute. In the past, the Peer Institute has been a three-day, two night, conference for college peer educators from across the state and it gives them the opportunity to become nationally certified peer educators through the NASPA CPE Training. Students have also viewed a presentation from a keynote speaker, participated in social activities and icebreakers, and presented to local high school students.
Due to COVID-19, this year we will be hosting a hybrid Peer Institute. The Peer Educators will train and become nationally certified virtually and then participate in a one day, on campus, conference. At the conference there will be a keynote speaker and the peer educators will participate in module content based activities, ice breakers and will celebrate the completion of their training with certificates and door prizes. We are looking forward to bringing back the residential portion in the future.
