Eligibility for Services

CAPS offers free, solution-focused, brief counseling and related services to both full and part-time TCNJ students who are currently enrolled in classes. If in the judgment of the counselor, a client requires additional sessions outside a brief course of counseling or would be better served by specialized providers outside of CAPS, the counselor will confer with the Assistant Director/Director and the rest of the staff about options for retaining or referring the client.

Summer Counseling: Students are eligible for services during the summer if they are registered for summer courses, an athlete participating in training, or are working on campus during the summer and are registered for the following fall semester.
